Marble Stone
When people think of stone benchtops, marble, like the classic Bianco Carrara. a pure, light white marble with light veining on its smooth surface, is often the first thing people think of.
Marble was originally limestone that changed due to intense heat and pressure, with the introduction of other minerals resulting in its characteristic veining. Today the range of marble has increased with a variety of colours. Marble is easy to clean and allergen-resistant.
Marble is the softest of natural stones which can make it susceptible to scratches and bruising. Unless you are after a rustic look where wear and tear would be acceptable, we would recommend avoiding the use of marble in kitchens or other high work areas. On the other hand, marble is beautiful and luxurious and gives a stunning finish in bathrooms as a vanity or cladding.
