Meet the team

Solid Stone NZ Ltd is a family-run business led by Tim and Di Ward who have been in the industry for over 30 years.  We are very family-orientated and proud of the legacy we are building with our children and grandchildren. Our two sons, Haydin and Ricky started helping out Dad when they were young and continued through their teenage ages and now as adults. The grandkids are growing up in the industry too and love to help around the factory.

Tim

Owner

Tim has been in the stone industry for close to 30 years, starting off installing tops and then moving to managing factory work. He has seen a lot of changes in the industry in both materials and processing machinery. He now does the templating and oversees the operation in the factory

Diane

Owner

Diane has been in the industry for 25yrs. She started as a production co-ordinator, then moved into NZ schist, both building and landscaping, before returning to benchtop fabrication.

Ricky

Commercial Manager

Ricky has worked in the industry for over 20 years. Starting as an assistant installer during the school holidays and working through every facet of the industry, Ricky now specialises in managing larger projects, from multi-level apartments, commercial interiors and cladding, to full high-end residential fit outs.

Haydin

Production Specialist

Haydin has been working in the industry for 15 years. He has witnessed new products, processes and materials enter the industry and been involved with understanding how to bring these materials into clients’ homes. He started out as a simple saw operator and picked up the use of other machines as they became available and technology advanced. Over his time in the industry, he has worked in all areas of benchtop fabrication.

Knows how to solve problems
Our team is an innovative one and problems don't faze us . During Covid-19 for example when we couldn't access all our machinery, we went old school - working without a saw, using the ground to cut and polishing on the truck to ensure we could fulfil our commitments.

Focuses on health and safety
Working with stone materials can produce a lot of dust and can cause silicosis over a long period. We focus on processes that reduce dust such as wet cutting and grinding to make things safer for our team and cleaner in your home.
